With a strong commitment to helping students fulfil their potential and flourish, an evidence-based, whole of school approach has been taken - involving students, staff, and parents, while also seeking to share Positive Education with the wider community. Ravenswood had the privilege of hosting Professor Martin Seligman in Residence in 2019. Ravenswood was also the first school in NSW to adopt a Visible Wellbeing Approach, working closely with Professor Lea Waters.

Anne Johnstone is the Principal of Ravenswood School for Girls, the Chair of PESA and an IPEN Board Member. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of· Laws (with Honours), a Graduate Diploma of Education and a Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) from the University of Pennsylvania, accomplished under the supervision of Professor Martin Seligman. Anne is currently completing a PhD under the supervision of Professor Lea Waters.

Kate Barbat, Coordinator of Positive Education and Visible Wellbeing

Kate is a published Children's Author, writing her first book in 2016, aimed at building self-belief in young people. Kate completed her Graduate Certificate of Positive Education.

Sarah Guy, Head of Junior School - Deputy Principal

Sarah Guy is the Head of Junior School - Deputy Principal at Ravenswood School for Girls. She holds a Bachelor of Education and Master of Education from the University of Sydney. Since completing the Positive Psychology Program for Educators with Professor Martin Seligman's team, Sarah has been committed to integrating Positive Psychology in the primary school curriculurr in creative, engaging and meaningful ways.

Lucy Cumming, Deputy Principal - Boarding, Wellbeing and Development

Lucy Cumming is Deputy Principal: Wellbeing, Boarding and Development at Ravenswood. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, Graduate Diploma in Educational Psychology, a Diploma of Education and a Master of Applied Positive Psychology. Lucy previously worked at Xavier College, Melbourne as Head of Languages K-12.

>Presentation: Reflecting on an exciting five year journey: from initiatives to challenges to culture

In this presentation, key members of the Ravenswood wellbeing and leadership team will share their experience of how to help whole school communities flourish through the application of the principles and strategies of Positive Psychology. Areas of focus will include change management and embedding Positive Positive Psychology Education into school culture, practical approaches and initiatives in both the day and boarding school, as well as reflections on learnings over the  five year journey thus far, including supporting communities through challenging times such as this years’ global pandemic.
