Avonside Girls’ is 4 years into this journey of embedding wellbeing into our school. We have responded to increased levels of mental distress in our wider school community by adapting our way of teaching, learning and thinking. We have also changed our structures and systems to support both staff and students.

Kirstin Field, Community of Learning leader focusing on Hauora/Well-being

Kirstin has been teaching for 18 years and is predominantly a specialist Geography Teacher and has been a Dean/Kaitiaki this year overseeing a cohort of students and taking care of them pastorally.

Kelly Shadbolt, Across Schools Leader of Hauora/Well-being in our Kahui Ako and Acting Head of Learning Area-Health and Physical Education

Kelly has been teaching 13 years teaching Health and Physical Education. Head of the Health department and this year has been appointed an across School’s teacher working on improving hauora within the East of Christchurch school cluster.
Both teachers are extremely passionate about Hauora/wellbeing.
